OHSU partners with Scoop to resolve parking challenges
About OHSU
Oregon Health & Science University is a nationally prominent research university and Oregon’s only public academic health center. It educates health professionals and scientists and provides leading edge patient care, community service and biomedical research.
The challenge
Every day, 20,000+ people commute to OHSU. In addition to the healthcare providers, facility workers, and university faculty, thousands of patients visit the hospital on a daily basis. OHSU needed to implement a cost-effective and scalable solution to mitigate the increasing demand for parking space on campus.
The solution
Demonstrating their commitment to improving the commute experience, OHSU’s transportation team partnered with Scoop to provide a flexible and convenient carpooling solution to help alleviate parking congestion. Within the first three months of launch, OHSU commuters had carpooled nearly 10,000 times with Scoop.
“We’re incredibly excited to have partnered with Scoop. We’re committed to providing the best transportation options to the OHSU community, and Scoop gives our employees a flexible way to get to work. Given the quick adoption on campus, it’s clear that Scoop’s Managed Carpool Program was the right solution for our employees,” says Brett Dodson, the Director of Tram,
Transportation, and Parking at OHSU.
“Scoop has revolutionized the way I get to work and going home. It’s faster than taking any public transit, so I get to spend less time commuting to work and more time with my husband,” says Ai Thi, Pharmacist at OHSU.
The results after 1 year
- 2,400+ employees carpooling
- 170,000+ lbs of CO2 emissions prevented
- 184,000+ rider miles saved
