In 2015, we launched Scoop in the San Francisco Bay Area with a single customer, Workday, and the simple idea that improving the commute could help make commuters happier, healthier, and more productive in their day-to-day lives. Now, four years later, we’re proud to have partnered with over 50 innovative companies to offer convenient and enjoyable carpooling to their workforces, putting more than 6 million carpool trips on the road to date.
We’re excited to announce the next step in our journey with our launch in Detroit. Starting this week, residents across the greater Detroit region will be able to share their commute with co-workers and neighbors with just a few taps on their phone. Detroit is the sixth major metro to join Scoop in the United States and the first off of the West Coast.
Our partnership with Bedrock
We’re proud to partner with Bedrock, a full-service real estate firm specializing in acquiring, developing, leasing, financing, and managing commercial and residential buildings, and a leader in providing equitable and accessible transportation solutions across the Motor City.
“Bedrock’s goal is to position Detroit at the forefront of mobility innovation by providing the best alternative transportation experiences for our team members, tenants, and visitors to Detroit,” said Kevin Bopp, VP of Parking & Mobility at Bedrock. “This partnership with Scoop allows us to offer a reliable and effective method for commuting to and through our city. And, as more and more downtown institutions take advantage of this initiative, Scoop will be able to expand its footprint and invest even more aggressively to serve a broader Michigan base.”
The future of mobility in Detroit and beyond
As a city, Detroit is fast-becoming not only a tech hub of the Midwest but a national leader in addressing how to provide equitable and dynamic transportation options for residents across the region. The City and many forward-thinking local organizations are taking proactive measures to improve their employees’ commute experience, and we look forward to aggressively expanding to help local employers and their workforces across not only greater Michigan, but the rest of the United States.
Whether it’s meeting a new neighbor, creating a valuable connection at work, or simply having an interesting conversation, we’re excited to help build a stronger community, one carpool at a time. Simply download the app, available on both iOS and Android, to get started.
The commute is the third largest driver of attrition at organizations today. Interested in bringing Scoop to your company? Let us know.
