Congratulations on matching in your first Scoop carpool. By carpooling, you’re improving the commute for yourself and your fellow carpoolers. Go you!

We know the thought of carpooling might seem intimidating, but we have some proven tips to make your first trip easy and enjoyable. Whether you’re behind the wheel or in the passenger seat, read on for everything you need to know to have a great carpool.

If you’ve matched as a Driver:

Before your trip

Once you match, text your fellow carpoolers to say hello and confirm your pick up time and location. Do a quick sweep of your car and throw away any trash. Before leaving for your trip, open your Scoop app and ensure location tracking is enabled, so your riders know when you’ll arrive.

During your trip

View your trip details to confirm when to leave for your carpool. Remember, the “pickup time” is when you need to be picking up your carpoolers. If you’re running a few minutes late, it’s helpful to text your carpoolers and let them know when they can expect you to arrive.

When you arrive, be sure to introduce yourself and let your carpoolers know how you prefer to spend your commute. A quiet ride, lively conversation, music, or podcasts are all good options. Upon reaching your destination, be sure to thank your Riders for a great commute!

If you’ve matched as a Rider:

During your trip

Be ready at your scheduled pickup time. Sit in the front seat if you’re the first passenger in the car and introduce yourself to your fellow carpoolers.  Respect the Driver’s car by closing the door gently, keeping your feet off the dash, and asking before eating or drinking in the car. Let your carpoolers know how you prefer to spend your commute. A quiet ride, lively conversation, music, or podcasts are all good options. Before getting out at your destination, thank your fellow carpoolers for a great commute!
